Fear Of Social Rejection [VIDEO]

Social rejection continues to be one of the biggest fears amongst many. But, what is social rejection exactly? According to the Association for Psychological Science, social rejection means that others have little desire to include you in their groups and relationships. Maybe someone leaves you out of their group or even ignores you… that’s not a great feeling.

Everyone likes to be liked, that’s a fact. However, those who fear social rejection tend to feel this internally due to insecurities. Something that we hear often here at Missouri Vein Care is that people were and are fearful of being rejected because of their vein condition. They often feel like people will have a gawking reaction to their unsightly veins. This leads them to isolate themselves before they are socially rejected.

So, how do you handle the fear of social rejection? Watch the video below to listen to Dr. Ryan as he discusses why people feel this fear.

We see patients who feel this internal fear of rejection very often. However, these patients won’t tell us that they feel this way, so we’ve learned to detect it through their behavior. Some ways to detect this fear is through body language signs like:

  • Not making eye contact.
  • Looking away when we talk about their vein condition.
  • Twitching/moving around a lot.

Our job is to take care of getting their unsightly veins gone and to make them feel comfortable and accepting about themselves again. After a few treatments, we can start to notice a difference in people and how they view themselves. We start to see their self image restored to being a normal person that people won’t stare at.

If you feel this way or have this fear, know that you have options. If you feel like you’re ready to take a new journey in your life when it comes to your vein condition, we would love to see you. You can schedule a free vein screening for in-person or virtually.
