How Often Do I Need to Get My Veins Rechecked After Treatment

After vein treatment, patients usually experience a dramatic improvement in their symptoms. They have more energy. They become more active. They're healthier and leading a healthier lifestyle. That's something that you really want to protect and maintain. One question people have is "how long does it last?"The symptoms of a vein condition are alleviated after treatment. Most notice a difference right away. The symptoms often return over time and may need to be re-treated in the future. Answering the question of how long will depend on the individual.

Vein Condition Self-Assessment

I tell people to pay attention when they begin noticing their symptoms coming back: leg aching, swelling, leg cramps, and trouble sleeping at night. When those signs start to reappear, it's interesting to me and what I have observed is that most people know instantly that it is connected to a vein condition. In contrast, when people are struggling to figure out those very same symptoms for the very first time, it takes months to years for them to finally establish that they have a vein condition. At the first signs that symptoms are starting to return, it is time to come in for a visit. Other people are concerned about their legs' appearance and will start noticing spider veins' return. They don't like how their legs look and just want to have normal-looking legs.

The best thing to do is come back every year for a touch-up because it's a lot easier to maintain the appearance of healthy normal legs if you keep up with it. If you let it go a couple of years, it may mean that follow-up treatment will involve multiple visits, and that's simply less convenient for people.

It's best to schedule repeat visits in January or February because you'll have time to finish treatment before Spring Break and warmer weather.
